I've been reading through Luke and landed on the temptation of Jesus in the wilderness.

What struck me was how he fought. Every time Satan came at him, Jesus responded with Scripture. "Man does not live by bread alone." "You shall worship the Lord and serve Him only." "You shall not put the Lord your God to the test."

He quoted truth and kept walking. Simple. Direct. Rooted.

I started wondering what would happen if I had a verse ready for the temptation that keeps finding me. Not a whole chapter. Just one verse, memorized, hidden in my heart like Psalm 119 says.

The ancient practice of Scripture memorization is making a quiet comeback. Men are realizing that having God's Word in your mind changes what you reach for when the pressure hits.

I am trying this. One verse for the temptation I keep facing. A small dagger for close combat, as Paul called it.

What verse might anchor you when temptation comes? What truth do you need in your pocket?
